No.

The best thing to watch for this small island is the approach of the low
and high pressure areas from across the Atlantic (normally). The other
thing, which doesn't get shown on the forecasts, is th position of the jet
stream. I don't know why. If it is to the south of the british isles, it
blocks the southerly air streams and allowns cold polar air to descend
upon us. This is what happened with the long, cold winters of 2010, 2011.
If the jet stream is to the north, then it lets in the southerly
airstreams. The best of these is called the tropical continental with the
winds coming up from the equator via southern Europe. London gets hot WX
and we, to the north get pleasant, warmish WX.

More common is that we get tropical maritime, south westerly winds which
give us cool WX, p*ssing with rain, our normal WX pattern.
If the jet stream is across the centre of Britain we get the wet
westerlies and keep the really bad WX away from the North of France and
the Benelux countries. That is why I have taken 16 of my short holidays in
the netherlands where it is not very warm but they don't get the
precipitation.
NL is cheaper and the locals are friendly and speak English.
It has been pleasant except for two occasions, on one, it snowed,
something the Dutch are not used to! Schiphol airport was buried in snow
with aircraft scattered all over the field. We had to be shuttled from the
ac to the arrivals lounge along with our luggage. I then caught a train to
the centre wher the snow was two feet deep and I made the half hour walk
to my hotel with snow up to my knees and dragging my trolley along the
top. The Dutch had no salt or snowploughs because the snow is such a rare
occurence.
I finally made it to my hotel dead on midnight where i could walok into
the bar, get a drink and light a cigarette adding to the blue haze from
all the other travellers who had also been delayed.

I don't remember the year but it was in March and I saw an Airbus A 380
which didn't officially fly until the April. He was parked well away from
the teminal with a Boeing 747 sheltering under one wing. They are BIG.

We have had several repeats of Day of the Jackal, I don't often watch it
but my favourite bit is where the assassin is testing his custom made gun
by firing at a watermelon with explosive bullets. The most annoying bit,
which you get in a lot of films is where the assassin has De Gaulle in his
sight and you wre muttering "pull the trigger !" as he stands in the cross
hairs for several seconds. I was once a marksman so it was question of
control breathing and the instant the target was in the sights just think
and the bullet was on it's way. With an explosive round, e Gaulle's coffin
could have been at least 8 inches shorter. quite a lot of sniper weapons
had hair triggers so you were never conscious of pulling the trigger.

Official Secrets Act. No one would believe me, after all, old men have
never been young and never done anything interesting, just talk BS.
