Subj: Google Chromecast May Not Work With Your Computer...

For Your Information...
My YL gave me a Chromecast for Christmas. As any techie I was excited and ready to get it working.
I hooked it up to my TV's HDMI port and plugged it into the power strip and went to the web
site to set it up. All went well and I was ready to share a tab in Google Chrome on my Windows
laptop to the TV. It synced right off after about 20 secs but the video was choppy on the TV and the laptop
So I checked my setting and tried a different video from another web site. Still choppy. On the laptop it was
smooth HD 720p video before I told it to sync with the Chromecast.

So I go to the Chromecast website and look at the trouble shooting section. Here is the problem that they
don't let you know... It seems that is your computer in less than a 2.4ghz Intel i3 processor it will not
stream HD to your TV. They recomend an i5 Intel processor and a wireless N router. So for the use I wanted,
which was to share my Chrome browsers video to the TV it will not work unless I upgrade my computer. Even
my Pentium Dual-Core 2.4ghz desktop running Windows 8 is not powerful enough to get a smooth stream.

So be sure to check you specs before you buy one of these. The price is great at $35 but unless you
plan to run it with a tablet or phone running IOS or Android (Which does not stream from the device)
then a Roku for a few dollars more is your best bet. My Roku does way more and is stand-alone.
