Hi all techies

Wonder if I will get an answer to this one? I recently bought a 220
Generator that has automatic voltage control (AVR) built in. Basically
what this is as far as I can see is a AC regulator for 220 volt. The
regulator circuit is no bigger than a pack of 10's cigarettes.

So far I have seen a couple of machines that does not deliver any output
due to this module going faulty. The module is in a metal casing and
sealed with some kind of epoxy resin. The only recocnisable component is a
fairly large capacitor. This then seems to be the component most often
failing as almost all of the units I have seen has phisical damage to this
cap.

So here I sit, after loosing one gen already due to this circuit going
faulty, with the fear that an untimely death may strike my current
machine. I am wondering what this circuit is. Where can I perhaps get a
diagram? Spares does not seem to be readily available so that may be a
problem. Opening the unit seems impractical as it is sealed.

So has anyone out there any knowledge of this? The machine was
manufactured in China.

Any help or info will be greatly appreciated. BTW a search for AVR on the
internet was rather un succesfull.
