German rocket scientist responsible for the design of the Nazi V-2 Rocket, and later one of the foremost drivers of NASA space projects. Wernher von Braun brought two 1930s vintage Nestler Nr. 23R slide rules with him when he moved to the U.S. after WWII to work on the American space program. Throughout his life he never used any other pocket calculating devices; the Nestler Nr. 23R slide rule obviously served him perfectly well for making quick estimates of rocket design parameters and other figures.

Russian rocket pioneer Sergei Korolevchief designer for the Russian space program also used the Nestler Nr. 23R slide rule.

The Nestler Nr. 23R was also the slide rule used by Albert Einstein.
