Hi John and all,
Ah, from electronics to auto mechanics, "an interesting bul". Don't you
think posting to YL would be more appropriate? (;->)
Just one thing to add, all you need is a drop of pen oil and let it soak
in for about an hour so there is no risk of contaminating the brake. I'll
have to tell that to a friend, we call him "Overkill". Oh, one more
thing, when using a gas torch again overkill works against you. Apply
gentle heat to the outside of the nut working your way around to heat it
evenly avoiding the stud. The idea is to expand the nut only, if the stud
gets hot and also expands you've defeated the purpose. Pen oil isn't TOO
flamable so not to worry if you resort to the torch and heat will help it
do it's job. On the other hand if you've spread it all over the place you
deserve to catch yourself on fire and eliminate stupid genes from the
pool.
Once you have the wheel off it's a good time to inspect the brake and
grease the bearing. If you're changing a flat on the side of the road
forget all of the above, the nuts are stuck for good so don't even
bother, get on your 2M rig and call for assistance. If you're lucky
you'll have broken down outside the asylum and...
That leads into the classic joke and I'm not up for a K competition so
I'll not get into how to burn a frozen nut off with a carbon arc rod and
a battery booster cable either. (;->)
