to all sysops and users,
seems that last night ON0AR bbs went crasy in a big way after several years
of flowless activity.
Several om's have already (e)mailed me today, first I shut down the
forwarding to prevent further problems, and started to find the cause of the
behavior.
There where during the last days 2 big power failures in the city of
Antwerp, so the search for errors on the hard drive was the first thing to
do, and indeed some errors where found.
After this was fixed (here is where all these years of making backups pay
off), all existing forwarding was killed (most off it was
corrupt/duplicated) and the bbs was back on-line including forwarding in the
evening hours.
Seems to me that all is running as it should be from this end, if you find
something let me know !
Also took the opertunity to switch off the telnet access via port 23, now
only telnet via port 4719 is available, pse adapt your forwarding if you
where using port 23.
Once again my appoligies for the problems the crash has caused around the
world, hope with the Cristmas spirit in mind this will soon be forgotten.
