Actually, this is not necessarily true. The problem with NetRom is the infection of INP3 which turns NetRom into a non-software2000 compliancy network. NetRom, according to it's inventor, is supposed to be hop based with quality drops based on each hop. INP3 does it by RTTL caculations, as does FlexNet with ax25. BTW; Xnet and FlexNet softwares have not been further developed in years making them obsolete. JNOS and URONode softwares for example are NetRom based and still under developmental maintenance. 

In my testings, it appears NEDA qualities still work best. The idea of having 800+ netrom nodes for those on Net105 at 300 baud HF, just to get a nodes listing takes them well over 10 minutes, and most of those nodes are not reachable. False advertising to the end user, and you lose credibility in the solidity of your network. 100Mbs is of no good if what you broadcast to users is unreachable.
