Ib my previous bull n this topic, I used the phrase "Jam Tomorrow".
It occurred to me that, maybe. this wasn't an international saying as well as
being old fashioned in Britain.
The full quote should be "If you do everything you are told by those in charge
and work very hard for little or no money, you will have jam tomorrow."
Tomorrow never comes of course and with the religions you can substitute
heaven.
The phrase Jam Tomorrow was much in use during WWII when we were rationed,
eating less in a week than we previously ate in a day. So "Jam Tomorrow" meant
you will be rewarded by good food at some future date.
So, if anyone offered you the opportunity to do some work ' or believe in a
religion' and pay you later. The common answer was "Jam Tomorrow".
Just showing my age, sorry about that.
