Hi Paula and all,
perhaps in the 'era of globalization' the spread up of the '@' field
may be almost normal and then we cannot combat against the stravagance
or any 'poor minded' intentions somewhere...
A couple of 'G *' commands setup somewhere are enough to make the
situation illustrated by Paula... and the *very very* arcaic PBBS
software almost all around complete the scenario :)
So, it is my idea to not reject, if not for any particular reasons,
for example, that messages written with characters absolutely not
compatible with our consoles so completely 'not readable/usable'.
In my opinion, the *true* problem concerns the 'matter' contained
on many messages which may concern actions for *messages/PBBS reject*
since it's very far away from our hamradio existence/interest such as:
flowers, local meteo, text of songs, histories, bible, and similars...
and that punctual *stupid* replications on 7+ format of the AMSAT or
keplerian data... that latter two items are punctually rejected from
my systems :(
So, for me is congruent, for any possible rejects, only the 'MATTER'
of the messages (and, perhaps, the compiacent sending PBBS), and NOT
the 'AREA/GEOGRAPHIC' routes (@)' ...

-------------
I know I've mentioned this before, but I can't remember what the outcome
was after all the shouting had stopped?...
I haven't updated my reject file in a long while, so these are the bulletin
distributions that have managed to get into my BBS in the last couple of
weeks...
@AMSAT
@ARL
@ARRL
@BAYCOM
@CANADA
@DL
@EU
@FRA
@FRANCA
@GBR
@ITA
@JPN
@LATNET
@LUNET
@NA
@NCBBS
@NLDNET
@NTSCA
@USA
@USBBS
@VKNET
@WW
Strictly speaking I should only be seeing @GBR, @EU, @WW, and @AMSAT.
I could easily add the other areas to the reject list, but I am not sure
if that is the correct course of action?
Although theoretically it is against the sender's wishes for me to see their
bulletins if they address them to @VKNET or @USBBS or whatever, nevertheless
some of them are quite interesting. If I reject them, the only person I
am depriving of seeing them is myself, because it seems the rest of the
world is simply ignoring the @Field and spraying everything everywhere!
1) Does the "AT" field have any meaning at all for bulletins these days?
2) Should we each be doing our bit to stop these bulls from propagating
outside their intended geographical / language areas? Or should we spray
everything everywhere to make sure it gets through?
73, Paula
