Good point Mike. If I remember right (and a lot of water has gone under
my bridge since then) the original idea was that BBS's would send SP WP
updates to their REGIONAL WP server (if applicable - I seem to remember
the UK had regional servers) otherwise to their NATIONAL server. In turn,
the national servers would aggregate the data and send it as SP to the WORLD
server.
Anyone wanting WP information could send a WP query message to the national
or world server. That message would usually be intercepted and replied to
by the first BBS which had the information.
The UK national WP server is GB7NWP.GB7PZT.#24.GBR.EU, but I can't remember
who the world server is - can anyone enlighten me?
As I said, that's how it USED to work. FBB seemed to change the rules, and
may not even need WP at all. Having said that, if you say that your WP database
has incomplete records, it looks like something isn't working!
