 Yes. Really novel.

That is a VERY good way to hammer the nail in to the coffin of packet radio.
I still feel I have something to contribute. I am just denied aerials by the
authorities, so Telnet comes a poor second.

I still remember how I managed to node hop all the way to France from Northern
England. It took hours but it felt like an acheivement. Even then, I could
have made it to France, the USA and 'Down Under' immediately, on internet but
it wasn't the same.
Now you are suggesting that I lose all contact with people around the world on
packet, typical of the dumb females who form our 'Gyneocracy' here in England
and probably make up the majority of our local council who decided rooftop
aerials were forbidden in this area!

Perhaps, gentlemen, we should have a collection of everybodies e-mail and
Skype addresses, then we can talk by SP or face to face if we want and keep
our rigs etc; like my FT290 and FT 711, tucked away as a reminder of happier
days.

There is no real substitute for packet of course. The 'Ham' sites are full of
Americans and advertisments, just wanting to talk tech and sell you things -
no thanks !

Packet could improve. This week I got a mesage wishing me a merry Christmas
and HNY from Osvaldo in Buenos Aires by SP, yes I said SP, supposedly
impossible nowadays. So I replied by SP and he got it so it looks as though
the sysops in Argentina at least, know what they are doing.

So, sort out your White Pages or whatever it takes anmd spare a little thought
for the dwindling few of us who rack our brains to think of new topics to try
to keep the system going.

On that topic, here is a New Year resolution for those asleep out there. In
2013 SEND A BULLETIN!
