Subject: Re FBBLOG and WP Junk

I was oh so wrong about the sysops.... They're not dead after all, they're just
humourless zombies reciting the age-old mantra "If you don't like it, don't
read it!". Warren, it's true, they've been assimilated!! ;-)

Oh, and the other standard mantra of the wet behind the ears sysop, "REJECT,
REJECT, REJECT", chanted Dalek-like at anyone who dares to question the pile
of effluent flowing round the packet system. Wow, what a briliant Idea... I
would never have thought of that one by myself.

At least my bulletin provoked some non-machine-generated content on the
packet network for a change. Heck, it probably doubled the days's quota of
human-generated traffic!

Well I'm now informed that sending your FBBLOGs to every BBS in the world, even
the ones who don't understand English (probably the majority these days) is a
useful and righteous thing to do, even though to me it looks like bragging.

No-one has yet informed me how these messages are generated, i.e. are they
part of FBB, or some 3rd party software. I'll bet they were never intended to
be sent worldwide.

As for WP updates, well I admit I'm a bit rusty on this packet stuff, but I
was led to believe that WP updates should be private mail, forwarded towards
your regional, national and world servers. In my view, squirting possibly
conflicting WP data worldwide is wrong. Now where's Hank W0RLI these days,
maybe he can coment on this...

Oh, but I forgot... serious constructive technical discussion is outside the
remit of the packet network these days.... I'd better take myself off to the
Department of Dumbing Down to receive my lobotomy :-(

Ponder this... The network is nowhere near as well connected as it was in the
heyday. There aren't enough BBS's left to afford the luxury of REJECT REJECT
REJECT. It only takes a few pivotal BBS's to reject stuff to suppress it
completely....
