This was to be a personal to Tony, but my BBS has come up with an
error message of NO ROUTE to VK3API. So tony here is a paste from my
PNL.
Hi Tony and congratulations on those years of being a BBS Sysop. One
of our main sysops up here said to me once, that you have to be a bit
crazy to run a BBS and he knew of such extended operation causing
divorces!
Never the less I have been a user, since near the inception of packet
using RF firstly, but like yourself, having to eventually use the
Internet.
Loving packet however and after I lost the local Digi here, I put out a
call to find a BBS that would allow me to use Telnet and 4 came back. So
I now have those 4 namely VK2DOT, ZL2BAU, VK6ZRT and VK2TGB, set up as
active icons on my desktop.
So as not to let them think I was ungrateful and maybe to boost their
user listing, each day I rattle through each and telnet in their latest
bulletins, using of course Winpac, that stores the headers, as your BBS
does.
Sometimes I will reply to a bull, via any one of them and marvel how
fast that bull. gets to all the other 3. So in fact, I am up to date with
headers from 4 BBS's, on an everyday basis. Maybe I am a bit crazy too, as
all share the same listings?
By the way VK2DOT runs 2 BBS's, one an FBB and the other a BPQ. The
latter I find too hard to be configured for Winpac and is poor by
comparison with FBB. So I don't keep up to date with it.
So Merry XMAS and a happy New Year Tony and glad we might see you on
the screen, as a user from time to time.
