I have two dual-boot WinXP comps, one with Debian 6.0.1a and the other with
Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS. Have been trying to install nodes at both of them, so
they could be able to talk to BPQ32 box. I read AX.25-howto and followed the
instructions, but all that I managed to do until now was to make a partial
connection from BPQ32 to a Linux box. I mean, when I try to connect from
BPQ32 the Linux end, I only get a response of type "... Connected to <call>"
and nothing else after that. (The <call> is the callsign from
/etc/ax25/axports in Linux). On the other hand, the commands /usr/sbin/ax25d
and /usr/sbin/netromd both respond that there are no ax25 ports defined in
Linux, although I have not had any complaint from a Linux box after using
ifconfig and nrattach commands before trying to activate ax25d and netromd.

I'd like someone that uses either Debian 6.0.1.a or Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS with
successful setup of AX.25 ports and BPQETHER support to contact me with
details of his/her setup and basic commands to configure the things. Btw, it
makes me wonder if those two distros of Linux support BPQETHER per default
and/or if the command 'modprobe bpqether' is sufficient for activating that
protocol. The same question goes for the command 'modprobe netrom' for
activating NET-ROM capability in those two flavors of Linux. Tnx in advance.
