Hi All .. Encouraged by reading recent bulls (Jose CX2SA,PeterVE3WBZ,
David G4EBT) I had a good listen round on my Trio 9R-59D (valves).
I've never been happy with it's performance, a bit deaf and lifeless ..
(even after aligning it to the best) .. I decided to check some DC voltages.
On V1 the RF valve a 6BA6, there should be 2.3v on the cathode, (there was
a mod published ages ago to change the cathode resistor from 180ohm to 78ohm
perhaps to achieve this) and the least I could measure was 10v!
Looking closer, I saw a Brown ring, not Black! Someone had put a 780ohm
in!
Now I could get 2.0v .. and it's actualy hearing weakish stations. HI!
I realise many Stations have gone over to satellite/internet, but there
seems to be a suprising number left ..
Any little lists, scheds, or observations from those of you on the net.
(I'm not) I'm sure would be appreciated by many. (perhaps limited to
English Language Broadcasts .. ?)
The hobby certainly has changed, but there's still a bit of a thrill
tuning round.
Was that KBC on about 6040 last night ? HI!

Cheers, Bill. G4LML ...............73
