I am trying to get involved in SSTV. I am already set up for
digital modes.
However, I don't have a clue where to start on SSTV.
I visited a Ham one time who operated SSTV.
He said that Digitrx was by far the best quality.
Is this true? Where will I find the most activity and which
software should I start with? And what should I be doing to get
started on SSTV? I don't have the internet hooked to my shack's
computer so how do I get my pictures on it to send via SSTV?
I do have a nice digital camera.
--- Any help is greatly appreciated. Bruce/NU0R

Hi Bruce:
For digital sstv the one that is mainly used is EasyPal
( latest is 12aug08) and can be gotten at
http://www.kc1cs.com/digi.htm
the only way to go for digital.. ( and its free) and (supported).
Digtrx and Hampal are not used so much anymore.. 7.173 and 14.233
are main freq's.
Also visit Daves Page http://www.kiva.net/~djones/
he has the run down on all the different programs,,
including MMSSTV which is analog SSTV and mostly 14.230
( not much on 40 meters).. Also look at Dick's sight
http://mysite.verizon.net/resojf80/ for several add on programs
that make them easier to use..

Join us on 7.173 ( from about 7am est till 5 or so pm) pretty much
anyone will be glad to help you..
You can use your own pictures on both programs.. Suggest you buy a
flash card 2 to 4 gig usb, and you can get pictures all over the net
and tranfer them from internet computer to you shack one,, very easy
and cheap ( 7 to 15 dollars-- even at Walmart)

Email me or ask group if you have anyother other questions..

CU on the air..

Garrett / AA0OI
