Joe,
MFJ makes a Morse Code converter. It is pocket size, cost about $70.00.
It hears the code and translates it to English.

You hit the nail on the head. That is actually what I am looking
for.CW to Text. I am sure there in not any software that would do that.
It would be very complex software, because it would have to convert
sound to ASCI binary using the length and spaceing of cw characters, etc.
It could possibley be done by and experienced programmer or author of
one of the PSK software programs and incorporated into the PSK program
itself, or either directly into the sound card.
I will keep looking around the internet, and asking around.
Something may pop up. If not, I will just have to stick with the
keyboard for now!:-((
Thanks Guys

Hi Joe. Are you wanting to decode CW with your computer? IF so,
there are programs out there, but from my reading, they all have
trouble with human sent CW.

I have the MFJ Morse reader ... neat package but must be VERY repeatable
timing on the CW signal. Takes awhile to "lock on". It is useful in a
pinch if you are not expecting too much. Several of the folks in our
local club had the same opinion and told me so after I had purchased it.
One thing that appears to work pretty good for that process is the
DM780 program. I got it when I installed Ham Radio Deluxe.
By the way that was not a difficult setup for either program.
I still like MMSSTV for SSTV ... but that is just my opinion and I have
only been playing with HRD and DM780 since the Friday before Field Day 2008.

I agree, whole MMSSTV setup took less than 45 minutes to get working (most
of that was getting used to the software and watching how a QSO goes.
The receive part is just as easy as you wrote. Audio in, software on, put
on RX window and enjoy.
On, the transmit side not much harder once you get your images to use on the
templates.
Good luck,

Carl,
I am using the Signalink USB with my TS-480 SAT and have it set as Device -1
(I did not have to set it that was automatic IF I remember correctly) I say
IF because I have been using it since at least October 2007 that way.
Do you see any sounds coming up on the waterfall display on MMSSTV?
As Ric wrote you can for test purposes go directly into you computers sound
card to see if you have a signal on the waterfall.
Be sure to click on the RX tab and select Auto mode.
Start with the RX on the Signalink USB turned up to the most clockwise
position.
For transmit you less is better, I run MMSSTV at about he 10 o'clock
position to start off (this will depend on your radios gain and if you are
coming in via the mic or an AUX port (I do not know the TS-440).
Then sit back and see the scans come in ...
Good luck and see you on the waterfall either SSTV or PSK31.

Hello Jim,
Thanks very much for your reply. You have helped me get a little
closer to the solution of my problem. I am curious that you can
operate with the "Device ID" set to -1. I cannot get the transmitter
to key up (PTT) unless my Device ID is set to +1, as others have
suggested??
I do not see sounds on on the waterfall when trying to receive using
my SignaLink USB. Cannot see the familiar trace with sync signal,
etc. Last evening I did connect the TS-440S headphone connector to
the line input on my computer (using the internal soundcard). It
worked and I was able to see pictures. Grainy they were, probably
because the 14.230MHz was sorta dead last evening. Watched two hams
exchange photos, etc. --- VE2JCW in Canada and some fellow in
Philidelphia, AB0RY. It was my first pics and was fun.
I have the RX tab on Auto and the RX turned all the way up on the
SignaLink USB, but nothing there!! Cannot get the software to
recognize that it must use the external SignaLink soundcard. It seems
to transmit -- with good PTT -- but no receive. I understand that
less is better, like PSK31. I have a Bird wattmeter on the line, so I
keep it at about 25-30 Watts.
On the TS-440, I connect to the standard 13+pin accessory 2 connector
on the rear. I use the supplied Kenwood cable supplied with the
SignaLink. It connects, as you know, to the rear of the SignaLink
radio connector. Then I have a standard USB cable from the SignaLink
to the computer.
Want to get this resolved somehow, so I can use the SignaLink for
send, received and PTT. It works for my PSK31 operation using Digipan.
Any ideas will be appreicated.
Are you at yahoo dot com like me?
Thanks and 73,
Carl Sherman

Thanks to all who share their views regarding SSTV reception.
The difficulty now am facing is antenna selection (and F-band).
I need following information:
Antenna: Linear/Circular?
Frequency band: ??

As Cliff mentioned, 14230 khz would be a good starting point.
Google "sstv frequencies" and I'm sure you may come up with a few others.
No special antenna needed... for 14230 you might like to try a dipole...
(google again).. or a simple end fed wire to a tree.
Best of Luck with it.

I think people have assumed you are using the Amateur Radio bands, but
from your question I do not think so. Are you trying to get satellite
television pictures perhaps?
If so, the MM-SSTV program will not be of any use to you. The program
receives single pictures sent over the Amateur Radio bands. It is a bit
like using a photocopier over the radio, or sending pictures on a fax
machine.
