Changing the device ID to "1" worked for my SignaLink USB. 
Hope you figure it out without too much trouble. 

I have an internal Realtek AC97 integrated card, and that is the 
default -1 and 0 device. My SignaLink USB is device 1, 
and I have another USB soundcard that works as device 2, 
when I want to really play with sound cards.
