In the interests only of communications with others the proper name for
the "pop down" is "drop list". This might help the fellow who used "pop
down" communicate with others. In some drop lists you can also type in
the number you want. That depends on the nature of the drop list itself,
of course. For some things it makes sense to allow typing and for others
it does not. It's worth a try.

        Joanne "W6MKU", who often finds herself miscommunicating because
        of a person's ad hoc definitions for Microsoft interface features.
        (I wish MSFT did not invent new terms for old technical art all
        the time.)
