Hi Warren.
Touching on weird religions, someone mentioned today something which
reminded me of the very funny SF tale entitled Bruno Lippschitz and the
Disciples of Dogma.
The plot is quite simple, aliens land, they are evangelists who exactly
resemble German Shepherd Dogs. They manage to convert moxt of the world to
worshipping their god and the sacred dog exhaust (they use another word
but I won't get away with it on packet due to tender sensibilities).
People buy lots of merchandise from simple wooden models of the sacred
Alsatian to gold statues, which they pray to at every opportunity.
The whole story is hilarious and reminds me of some US evangelists,
especially that one who was the brother (?) of the guy who sang Great
Balls of Fire !
I can't remember the author, perhaps it gave L.Ron the idea for his
religion.
