Hi Warren.

L.Ron Hubbard was definitely on my 'do not read list' along with J.G.
Ballard whose Empire of the Sun, his only non SF story, was pretty good.

As for Scientology, I just can't understand why people join it including a
lot of actors and actresses. I don't suppose you have to be intelligent to
be a multi millionaire actor. It was actually banned in the UK before 2000
when we got our Human Rights Act which doesn't give us anywhere near your
1st amendment rights but allowed Scientology back in.

It isn't mentioned on TV, though, the last time I heard of it was when
Hubbard died.

I do know what it is about as I read a book on it in it's early days and
it seemed pretty stupid but I have to agree with what you say about
starting a religion. My brother who I don't talk to, became a preacher
purely to earn a lot of money for very little work. He does very well.
