Hi Warren.
Now you mention it, I do vaguely remember a Professor Asimov. It is
strange how so many people think he was so good.

I liked his Foundation series, they should have made that into a film but
equally good was The Weapon Shops of Isher by A.E.van Voght.

My first pulp story, Slan was by him but I read people like Fred Pohl,
Poul Anderson, C.M. Kornbluth, Heinlein who was the advisor on B5, which
had a ship called the Asimov in it BTW and Frank Herbert for other stories
beside Dune. There were other writers I just used to ignore like Arthur C
Clark except when he wrote in collaboration with other writers, His short
story, The Sentinel, was turned into what was probably the most boring
film ever made, 2001 A Space Odyssey, until '2010' that is.

Add to that all the women authors, I could spot them after five pages even
when the used men's names like E.E.(Doc) Smith and put the book down with
'note to self' Don't read this author(ess) again.

I am not a misogynist it is just that there are three thing women can't
do, write decent SF, write poetry and be stand up comediennes.

Yes, this time around, I did notice the part about 'Spearchucker Jones' I
suppose I missed it before because, like a lot of Brits, American Football
is meaningless to me so I probably went to make a cup of tea.

Someone called him "A Coon" How shocking !
Now Klinger would be illegal as Pete pointed out.
