Hi Ian and all,
Maybe you got confused, in the Buck Rogers TV series a character was
Professor Asimov, the great great grandson of the author. Heuristics
which for those who don't know has to do with computing, the term was
used in the series and the name comes from a character in Dune, Huer. You
know, the guy with the tooth.
Funny you should mention Bicentennial Man, I have the movie but never
finished watching it. Right, it IS a very good film but some distractions
are longer than others. (;->) I suppose Kubrick screwed up A Clockwork
Orange, it screwed up my mind trying to make sense out of nonsense and I
never made another futile attempt at it.
Oh so you discovered the major departure in M*A*S*H did you? Corporal
Klinger replaced Spearchucker Jones at a time when transvestism could be
funny while racism never is. I'm surprised at the movie for that reason
but oh well. Right, the TV version of the film IS shorter for two
reasons, some ended up on the cutting room floor for censorship but the
greater part made room for those tiresome commercials. Look at the
running time, 90 minutes in a 120 minute air time slot leaves 30 minutes
for commercials. It was impossible to get an uncut version of any movie
in the VHS days, things are starting to improve with DVD and Blue Ray.
I sure do hope they show the series "over there", you'll love it! Be
forewarned, Hawkeye (Alan Alda) thinks he's Groucho Marx. (;->)
