2012
PREDICTIONS FOR 23 Apr 2012 10CM FLUX: 150 / AP: 019
PREDICTIONS FOR 24 Apr 2012 10CM FLUX: 152 / AP: 008
PREDICTIONS FOR 25 Apr 2012 10CM FLUX: 153 / AP: 007
COMMENT: The solar flaring activity is still rather low: the background

X-ray flux as measured by GOES is at B6 level. Catania 2 (NOAA AR 1459)

and Catania 10 (NOAA AR 1465) produced several small C-flares in the
past day. More C-flaring from these regions is likely in the coming days

with a small chance for an isolated M-flare. A filament eruption
occurred on April 22 starting around 13:00 UT on the south-west limb of

the Sun. The corresponding CME enters the SOHO/LASCO field-of-view at
14:36 UT and has an estimated speed of 430 km/s. Based on the
STEREO/COR2 data, this CME does not seem to have an earth-directed
component.

SOHO/CELIAS and ACE data show a shock in the solar wind parameters
around 2:30 UT this morning. This indicates the arrival of the partial

halo CME that was observed on April 19th. Currently, the interplanetary

magnetic field has a value around 10 nT with the north-south component

turning towards the south. The solar wind speed lies around 480 km/s.
The Kp index has reached active levels (Kp=4), while the local K index

at Dourbes is at K=3 (unsettled conditions). Active conditions to minor

storm levels (K or Kp maximum 5) are possible in the coming hours.

TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 089, BASED ON 15 STATIONS.
