COMMENT: Solar activity is low with flaring at B-class level. A C1.2
flare occurred yesterday in NOAA AR 11450 with peak time 16:27 UT. We
expect solar activity to remain quiet, with a chance for an isolated
C-class flare.
The GOES satellite data show the arrival of a magnetic structure around

19:30 UT yesterday. A jump in the magnetic field measurements was
observed. The southward component of the magnetic field turned strongly

negative (around -9nT) and remained at this level for almost 12h.
Fortunately, the solar wind speed is currently very low (around 320
km/s, based on SOHO/CELIAS data which suffers from data gaps). Therefore

the geomagnetic consequences were limited: both Kp and the local K-index

in Dourbes reached a value of only 4. More active periods (K=4) can be

expected later today, also due to the possible arrival of the CME on
April 2.

TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 036, BASED ON 10 STATIONS.
