PREDICTIONS FOR 27 Mar 2012 10CM FLUX: 100 / AP: 007

COMMENT: The solar activity has been at eruptive levels during the past

24 hours, with four small C flares, three of which were produced by NOAA

AR 11444 and one by NOAA AR 11445. Solar activity is expected to remain

eruptive, with risks of C flares from AR 11444 and 11445. An isolated M

flare is possible. A CME was first observed by the COR2 B coronagraph
aboard STEREO B on March 26 at 01:25 UT. It is not Earth-directed, but

there is a slight chance for a glancing blow from this CME around March

30.
In the past 24 hours, fairly low solar wind speeds (350-400 km/s) have

been observed by ACE, while the Interplanetary Magnetic Field has been

steady around 5 nT. The geomagnetic field has been quiet (K Dourbes
ranged from 0 to 3; NOAA Kp from 0 to 2), and is expected to stay so on

March 26 and 27. On March 28, quiet to active conditions are expected (K

Dourbes from 0 to 4), due to the expected arrival of a recurrent coronal

hole high speed stream.
