COMMENT: NOAA AR 11387 (no Catania number) is by far the most active
region on the solar disk. In the last 24 h, it produced 2 M-flares in
addition to 6 C-flares. Yesterday, at 18:16 UT this region was the
source of an M4.0 flare. Linked to this event, a type IV radio burst and

a proton flux enhancement in GOES data were observed. The associated
type II radio burst had an estimated shock speed around 1000 km/s. A CME

was observed by the STEREO/COR2 and SOHO/LASCO instruments in the
south-west. We expect to receive at least a glancing blow from this CME,

which can cause unsettled to active geomagnetic conditions starting from

December 27 evening.
For now, geomagnetic conditions are quiet. As the GOES background X-ray

flux is at high B-level, we expect more C-flares in the coming days,
with a possibility for another M-flare.

TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 070, BASED ON 04 STATIONS.
