COMMENT: No sunspot groups are currently visible on the solar disc.
Solar activity is thus quiet and is expected to remain so. A structure
preliminarily identified as an interplanetary shock was detected by ACE
around 15:00 UT on April 30. It marked the arrival of an interplanetary
disturbance associated with a halo CME on April 26. The ICME itself
seems to have missed the Earth, and only the shocked plasma was
detected. The interplanetary magnetic field went down to -8 nT in the
aftermath of the shock. Disturbed geomagnetic conditions (K=5 reported
by IZMIRAN and NOAA and K=4 by Dourbes) were registered. Currently the
interplanetary magnetic field is close to the average level (5 nT), so
we do not expect a further geomagnetic disturbance.
TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 000, BASED ON 09 STATIONS.
