COMMENT: Active region Catania 82 (NOAA AR 1302) produced an X1.9 flare

this morning with peak time 09:40 UT. This same region was responsible

for the X-flare on thursday and produced two M flares in the past hours:

an M1.6 flare peaking yesterday at 22:15 UT and an M1.9 flare around
midnight with peak time 23:56 UT. The X-flare this morning was
associated with a CME, but very few chronograph images are available at

the time of writing. Radio data from our station in Humain show Type
III's and a Type II radio burst. We can expect more flaring at C and M

level from this region, with a possibility for another X-class event.

The GOES X-ray background is at C-level. Catania 72 (NOAA AR 1295) was

producing C-flares during the past day. We expect more flares at C level

from this region, which is turning over the west limb. NOAA AR 1283,
which produced an X2.1 fare on Sept. 6, is expected to return on the
east limb.

A proton event is ongoing. The GOES curve crossed the >10MeV threshold

around midnight. We do not expect the flux level to rise significantly

anymore, unless there are new contributing events on the Sun during the

day. Geomagnetic conditions are currently quiet, but could become
unsettled to active tomorrow due to a possible glancing blow of the CME

associated with the X flare last thursday.
