COMMENT: With the newly numbered Catania 81, we now have seven active
regions on the solar surface. Numerous small C-class flares were
observed during the past 24h. They originated mainly in Catania 72 (NOAA

AR 1295) and Catania 80 (NOAA AR 1301). The strongest of these events
was a C3 flare peaking at 21:42 UT yesterday in Catania 72. No
geo-effective (i.e. earth-directed) CME's were observed with the
SOHO/LASCO or STEREO/COR instruments. More C-class flares are expected,

with a slight possibility for an M-class event.

The solar wind speed has decreased to 370 km/s, while the southward
component of the interplanetary magnetic field is fluctuating between
-4nT and +4nT. As a result, we expect quiet to unsettled geomagnetic
conditions to continue in the coming days, with a possibility for
disturbed conditions due to a coronal hole wind stream on september 23.
