COMMENT: Solar activity is low. New region NOAA 1260 (Catania 43)
rotated into view at the northeast limb on July 24, it has moderate
chances of producing C-class flares. All the other active regions on the
visible disc are decaying. Geomagnetic activity has been quiet to
unsettled in the last 24 hours due to the arrival of a fast speed solar
wind stream from a faint coronal hole. The solar wind speed is now
around 550 km/s and more quiet to unsettled conditions are expected,
with isolated active periods possible.
