COMMENT: NOAA AR 1226 is by far the most active region on the Sun. As
it is turning more and more into view, it is continuously flickering
with C-flares. This morning it produced an M1.4 flare, peaking at 10h30.
This region has a beta-delta magnetic configuration and is still
growing. We expect more C-class flares and possibly another M-flare.
Geomagnetic conditions have been active yesterday and today due to a
high wind speed stream from a recurrent coronal hole and the arrival of
an ICME. The local K Dourbes reached a maximum of 5. (Kp max was 6). The
solar wind speed is still increasing and has currently reached 800 km/s.
The total magnetic field currently has a value around 5nT. More active
periods are possible in the coming day.
TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 072, BASED ON 07 STATIONS.
