PREDICTIONS FOR 15 Mar 2011 10CM FLUX: 119 / AP: 007
PREDICTIONS FOR 16 Mar 2011 10CM FLUX: 118 / AP: 003
COMMENT: Three sunspot groups are currently visible on the solar disk:
NOAA ARs 1166, 1169 (Catania numbers 22, 26) and 1172 (no Catania number
yet). C-class flares occur and can be expected to occur further on in
all three active regions. The NOAA AR 1166 (Catania number 22) has a
beta-gamma configuration of its photospheric magnetic field and
therefore keeps a potential of producing an M-flare. Due to the position
of NOAA AR 1166 close to the west solar limb, a strong CME from this
active region may lead to an energetic particle event at the Earth. The
solar wind speed at the Earth is currently around 600 km/s, and the
interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) magnitude is around the average
level (5 nT). Due to predominantly northward IMF orientation, we expect
quiet geomagnetic conditions in the coming hours.
TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 036, BASED ON 08 STATIONS.
