COMMENT:
The two numbered active regions on the visible Sun, NOAA
AR 1158 and 1161, are capable of M flares. In fact, two of them have
been produced in the last hours. An M6.6 flare peaking at 10:11 UT and

an M1.0 peaking at 10:26 UT. Only SECCHI-EUVI beacon data are available

for this time (no SDO, SOHO nor SWAP data available yet). The first
flare was most likely related to AR 1158. There is not enough data to
discern the origin of the second one. AR 1161 is increasing in
complexity, while AR 1158 is getting simpler, but still capable of M-
and even X-flares.
An ICME arrived to the Earth. ACE measured a
shock at 00:40 UT followed by strong magnetic interplanetary magnetic
fields (~30 nT). Kp reached 4 and then 5. More geomagnetic effects can

be expected during the rest of the day, since it was possible that three

CMEs were interacting in their way to the Earth.
