Obviously you know nothing about the hot water systems many of us use here
Warren or you would not make such remarks. I don't know why I bother but
here it is.
You missed the point, probably through ignorance of the situation but I'll
try to explain.
I have an instant heat system, no storage tank. My 100C was in light of
the fact that when I had a wood fired system it used to boil sometimes
)100C=boiling point, got it?).
The comment about mixing in cold water indicates you have missed my point.
You go read it again and figure it out for yourself. I am going to
breakfast now.
BTW when I had a houseful of kids wasting water solar systems were not
very common. My oldest "kid" is 64 Warren. My "baby" is 46.
Cheers,
Bob VK6BE.

WHAT is one reason you never got a solar hot water system? When you open
a paragraph with a blanket statement followed by comments about cloudy
weather and kids taking showers you create a mystery leaving us to
speculate. Now please get to the point and state your reason, your skies
aren't always cloudy and you don't have a house full of kids wasting
water.

"Temperatures as high a 100C can be there."

You had to install a computerized system to avoid mixing in cold water?
What happened to the thermostat already on the water heater... no "warm"
setting? Then what do you do when you wash your clothes and moreover the
dishes? It takes a little more than 45C to kill germs... eeewww!

Oh well, teach a zone and shrink your gas bill. Hey, if it shrinks TOO
much how are you going to read it?
