First about the fire brigade; My son recently had them installed. Four panels.
Looking at his switchboard I notice there is a disconnet relay on the roof with
a switch on the switchboard.
Also I think the panels are 12 volt, but I don't know that for certain.
Therefore the highest voltage would be 48 volts if they are connected in series.
I have never previously found the firies to be whimps.

Dave, the payback time was only about one year.
This was the case with the Federal Governments $8000 subsidy and 80 cents/kwh
gross tarrif.
However Chistina had a look at what that was costing the government and promptlyreduced it to 20 cents.I am not sure how that affexted the break even time but
it would still be a lot sooner than thirty years, pehaps five years.
There was somone putting in a small installation for the $8000 subsidy.
