COMMENT: There were no C flares recorded since the last forecast, still
NOAA AR 1117 has potential for producing C-class and even M-class
flares. There have been three CMEs seen leaving the Sun. The first one
around 00:48 UT (on LASCO/C2) on Oct 26 originated most probably from
NOAA AR 1115. Even though it is mostly directed towards the south, a
glancing encounter with the Earth is possible around Oct 30. The second
one was a narrow CME originating from a prominence eruption in the
northwest limb that erupted about 09:00 UT on Oct 26 (seen first at
10:48 UT on C2), it is not expected to affect the Earth. The last CME,
also not supposed to be geoeffective, occurred this morning. It was
first seen at 07:48 UT by LASCO/C2, after a data gap. The solar wind
speed is down to 500 km/s at the L1 point, geomagnetic conditions are
expected to be quiet for the next 48 hours.
TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 030, BASED ON 09 STATIONS.
