PLAIN
NOTE: the above forecasts are valid from 1230UT, 23 Oct 2010 until 25 Oct
2010
PREDICTIONS FOR 23 Oct 2010 10CM FLUX: 084 / AP: 019
PREDICTIONS FOR 24 Oct 2010 10CM FLUX: 084 / AP: 016
PREDICTIONS FOR 25 Oct 2010 10CM FLUX: 082 / AP: 004
COMMENT: We forecast a continuation of the current low solar activity,
with only a possible occasional C flare. However, a filament eruption
occured near disc center early on Oct.22, causing a semi-halo CME. This
event may lead to a geomagnetic disturbance at the Earth by Oct. 24. In
the meantime, the solar wind speed has increased steeply over the last
12 hours, currently reaching almost 700km/s. This fast stream associated
with a coronal hole has reached the Earth earlier than predicted,
probably because of its rather high velocity. It should induce unsettled
to active geomagnetic conditions, at least for the next 24 hours, with
possible minor geostorm intervals. However, those disturbed conditions
may be extended by one more day, on Oct.14, due to the arrival of the
abovementioned CME.
TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 029, BASED ON 06 STATIONS.
