COMMENT: Solar activity is quiet and is expected to remain so. After
encountering the interplanetary sector boundary yesterday evening, the
Earth is currently inside the interaction region between the slower and
faster solar wind flows. The faster flow probably comes from the edge of
the low-latitude coronal hole in the northern hemisphere. The solar wind
speed is still rather low (around 340 km/s) and the interplanetary
magnetic field is close to average (4 nT). However, the arrival of the
fast stream from the coronal hole is still possible and may result in
active geomagnetic conditions up to the minor storm level.
TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 000, BASED ON 19 STATIONS.
