PLAIN
NOTE: the above forecasts are valid from 1230UT, 08 Nov 2017 until 10 Nov
2017
PREDICTIONS FOR 08 Nov 2017 10CM FLUX: 068 / AP: 039
PREDICTIONS FOR 09 Nov 2017 10CM FLUX: 068 / AP: 043
PREDICTIONS FOR 10 Nov 2017 10CM FLUX: 068 / AP: 024
COMMENT: The solar activity remains very quiet as the solar disc is
spotless; no flares and no active regions have been recorded in past 24
h
on the disc. The X-ray flux is expected to remain below C level.
No Earth directed Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) have been observed and
the
solar protons flux remained at background levels over the past 24 hours.
The high speed solar wind stream associated with the northern extension
Coronal Hole (which has crossed the central meridian on Nov 04) has arrived
and the Earth is in the fast solar wind with a speed around 600 and 660
Km/s since yesterday Nov 07, 17:45 UT. The interplanetary magnetic field
magnitude reached 20 nT at 16:45 UT on Nov 07 with the arrival of the co-
rotating interaction region, then slowly decreased to 7-8 nT. The Bz
component was many southward and reached -13 nT at 16:45 UT on Nov 07.
Currently, the Bz remains manly southward around -7 nT. The solar wind
conditions are expected to persist until Nov 10 while under the influence
of the high speed stream associated with the coronal hole.
Disturbed geomagnetic conditions were observed due to the fast solar wind
and the Bz component of the interplanetary magnetic field being manly
southward. Geomagnetic storms were observed: NOAA reported Kp=6 from 18:00
UT Nov 07 to 6:00 UT Nov 08 and local station at Dourbes reported K=5 from
17:00 UT Nov 07 to 2:00 UT on Nov 08. Further minor to moderate geomagnetic
storms cannot be excluded, especially if Bz component remains negative
for
long period of time.
TODAY'S ESTIMATED ISN : 000, BASED ON 06 STATIONS.
