COMMENT: The early signs of the fast solar wind stream, announced in
the previous days, were detected by ACE starting around 23:00 UT on
August 8. Within a region marked by compression in the magnetic field
and plasma data, the field magnitude reached values of ~20nT. The Kp
index was only 3, due to the predominant northward orientation of the
Z-component of the magnetic field. Unsettled to active conditions are
expected for the next 48h, with possible minor storm periods.
