I have been trying Wizmouse out and find that it performs easily and well
on e-mails etc. I am not sure about Winpack with it's wierd font though.

It will manage the French accents such as  =a acute and Š= e grave, even
the german Umlout ü= u umlaut which we otherwise have to write with ue as
in Brüder/Brueder.

Maths symbols dont work ø = deg symbol shows on my screen, I used ALT +
248 then but I am not sure if it works on everyone elses; however money
such as the _ Euro sign doesn't show, neither does the UKP.œ

10ý = 100 is better than 10^2=100. bur SQR only gives a v.

Again, I don't know if this is the same on every ones screen,

The little warning at the bottom saying " 30 days left of trial" is a bit
of a pain - I don't like paying for anything and they didn't say it was a
trial.

Having the mouse wheel working is a big plus. It already works on some
programmes but not Winpack.

I have often wondered why G4IDE had to incorporate his wierd font into
Winpack. He used TPK before that which would accept almost any font. I
used \Times New Roman and codepage 850.
As he copied most of Winpack from TPK, I don't know why he didn't leave
the option of making all symbols available. He didn't even allow the Euro
symbol. Not surprising as it wasn't in use until 7 years after he wrote
it.

I couldn't really ask him about it as we fell out very early on.
I had tried an early Winpack and sent out a bull saying it was @Like
watching paint dry." It was true on my old, early PC.
Roger came storming back with "If you think that Winpack is slow than you
should go out and buy a better computer. One that is fast enough to run my
programme."

I was very poor at the time and happy to be using some kind of PC. I
couldn't even afford a printer. It was a question of 'beg, borrow and
build' back then.

I assembled my current PC from amotherboard with a 4.2GHz CPU + drives and
mixed memory sticks from older compuiters.I still use a 15" CRT and an old
keyboard from about the time when they started including the Euro sign on
key 4.

It has no problem running Winpack even at 4 years old. OS is XP pro, still
good enough for me.

I think they above explains why I was so annoyed that I couldn't discuss
Winpack with Roger.

NB, if I had an AE, I would still be happily running the far faster TPL
1.63 but Telnet must when the devil drives.
