Before one retired, over 10 years ago - we used to retrieve formatted HDD's &
retrieve old data, down a number of layers. The software was used by intel & federal
law einfoenforcement departarpments.!!! i miss my sec these days.
Also, when a PC etc was redundant, it was bundled up & hand carried to the Pt Kembla
blast furnace were it was destroyed, most state police depts put a drill through
the platters.
Its amazing what you can get off a formateded disk & used in a court of law. Have
used this in law courts in Australia many times in the past...
