Hi Ian and all,

"...the average punter just accepts the hype about it being better."

That's because the average punter is held at a disadvantage on two
fronts, using an old analog CRT with a converter leaves the weakest link
right in front of him, the CRT. Then there are a few whose eysight leaves
a bit to be desired, put them together and there is no improvement at
all. Using an old analog set (CRT) with a converter the only improvement
I see is the absense of background noise common with analog cable, start
with a clean signal and repeat it for miles down the coax and crud comes
out the other end.

When it comes to pure digital all the way the best move of my life was a
new computer with a wide, HD ready flat screen LCD monitor. This thing
makes the old CRT look sick, color depth and definition are phenomenal.

Digital is great but only when done right, let money get in the way and
it'll screw up anything. Even Cyndi Lauper had something to say about
that but I digress.................
