Hi Ian,

Thanks for the comments.

There is little or no terrestrial Secam here hence my not commenting on
it.
Most of my movies are shown in competitions so any technical aberrations
count heavily against the final score as does any glitch in the content.

Little things can count against you quite heavily, things like slight
mismatches in colour balance between two cameras recording a single scene
from different angles, or the slightest continuity problem, e.g. an actor
collar turned slightly up in one scene and down in another adjacent scene.

I was in France for a while when the 800 line TV was on and it was
certainly streets ahead of anything else (as was their telephone system of
the time).

With regards to time shifting my STB also has a hard drive and a system
whereby you can pause the "off air" video and buffer it to hard disk
whilst you answer the phone or similar. I find this a terrific way to
avoid the adds in that I start the program that I want to watch buffering
to the hard drive and then have a cup of tea first. When I have finished
the cuppa I can then go and watch the program and FF over the adds. I have
noted that the add content is nearly more than the program content on some
of our free to air channels.
                                    Regards Tony VK3API
