Hi Pete and all,
Hmmm, I took a guess and was wrong, Silent Service wasn't on dad's
playbill. Back then we had one old B&W set in the living room and a
dictator who often fell asleep but sprang up shouting "I was watching
that!" if mom changed the channel or turned it off. We went to bed, he
slept on the couch with the set on. (;->)
Yup, James "Gunsmoke" Arness played THE THING from outer space (that's
how it was billed) and mom called him a walking carrot. One interesting
thing I noted, they used 3 phase current to kill the thing but how did
they keep it from arcing to ground or destroying the equipment if it
wasn't grounded??? Oh well, that's Hollywood. Another funny bit, I
recognized the baby plant creatures, Japanese Lanterns. I had some potted
around the house, then I thought of Audrey 2, uh oh. Then along came John
Carpenter... don't go where the Huskies go and don't you eat that yellow
snow! Norge, an appliance brand name, then a helicopter? (;->)
Oh don't mind me, this nor'easter has me stuck indoors and it looks like
the beginning of cabin fever season.
Yes, strange things happen in war and stranger, friends come out of it.
That makes you wonder why they shoot at each other in the first place
when they should be shooting at their leaders.
