In the next few days we plan to release a betaversion of the new
Linux-RMS-Gateway 2.0.
This software is based on the former TelPac-Gateway/LinuX which is used
worldwide for some years.
With the support of Brian, W3SG we restructured the code and added new
features required for the new Winlink2000 network.
In the last step the new version will be compatible to the new
Packet-Radio-RMS-Gateway and Pactor-RMS-Gateway for Windows from the
Winlink-development team (www.winlink.org).
Like before the Linux-version will be an open source project, based on
standard Linux ax25tools and ax25libs, and it needs very low resources.
At least the packet-radio-version should still run on small embedded systems
like the old TelPac-Gateway does.
For the very first Pactor-version we currently need the Linux
hostmode-terminal-software TNT, but we plan to have a smaller hostmode daemon
available in future.
Currently we run alphatests at DB0LJ-10 and W3SG-10 in Packet-Radio and at
DA5UDI in Pactor.
DA5UDI still offers the old Gateway-functionality to the packet-radio-network
parallel.
Pressing "Enter" right after a connect will bring up the old
Packet-Radio-Gateway, doing nothing will connect your Airmail- or
Paclink-Client after a short time to the CMS host.
Interested sysops are invited to join our new Yahoo-Group
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/LinuxRMS
There you will find the actual status information and the software soon.
Give us a few days to fix the last minor bugs and complete some open features.
