Hello Ray
OK on your tests.
I have played with OUTPOST mail client running on my windows laptop
tested connect in via netrom nodes and direct via ax25 and telnet to my
server. Found a bug with the date message handling for dates in range 1 to
8 (seen this before years ago in other software (octal))

Anyway back to your tests. I am replying from my news reader client.

Apologies for resending headers and content to assist in this topic.

MY thoughts are:-
JNOS is an IP based system. Running many services.
SMTP and NNTP being just two of them.
You have a user account w6ray
and your jnos system hostname is w6ray and this system is within the
AMateurRadioPacketNETwork domain. Given a FQDN w6ray.ampr.org for the fully
Qualified Hostname of the server.

Any message generated within the Jnos servers will have the Servers FQDN
appended when the message BID is generated.

When you use OUTLOOK or gateway any message in to and out of your JNOS
system. Your Server will (should) handle the original BID using the X and T
lines, as it enters in to the IP infrastructure then gateway back out to
the AX25 infrastructure.

I am no expert in this area. As I had a lot of assistence over 12
years ago from an expert in the NNTP area message handling area. To modify
my code amd make it compatible with the modified TNOS and JNOS message
handling code. Thus preventing duplicate bids, message due to gatewaying
to and from IP<>AX25<>IP<>IP<>AX25 systems

example
these are the headers of your bulletin/newarticle file as stored within
my (nntp)system. Not sure it that helps or not Ray.

That is what I was asking for help about. It is an issue with the operator; in Outpost, I had neglected to change the message t
[snip]

We will see with this message. I have changed it to a bulletin and addressed to jnos@ww.

Thanks!!

I am sending this message from JNOS and not Outpost. What I am trying to determine is why w6ray.ampr.org is appended to my call

sign instead of w6ray.#nca.ca.usa.noam. Is it a setting within Outpost (which I cannot find) or within JNOS (again, which I can

not yet find)?

I notice some others have their AMPR.ORG addresses appended to their callsign on outgoing bulletins, while others have their...

 (No backspace) hierarchial address.

BTW, I did send this message as "sb".
