THE SELF-STYLED "RAFARS ACTION GROUP"
Concerns have been raised by many members about the form and style of a
message being widely circulated to members from the self styled
"rafars-action-group" which, in part at least, is attributable to RAFARS
member 4148 John C. Williams G8LGC, QTHr in the RAFARS QRZ.
The document has been circulated by e-mail and, from information received,
in some instances as a hard copy.
Your Council wishes to make it clear that the document does not originate
from RAFARS and Council do not associate itself with the statements made
in
the document. This is being investigated and the Vice President has
already
sent a letter to Mr Williams.

RAFARS AMATEUR RADIO SPECIAL EVENT STATIONS.
HQ has received QSL cards with included SAE/IRC for GBxRAF Special Event
Stations. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to identify the member to
send
the card onto because the society is not now involved in the allocation of
GBxRAF callsigns, with the exception of GB2RAF which is a permanent SES
callsign, and so has no record of who operated what and when.
You can help - If you apply for an NoV to operate as GBxRAF or any other
obviously RAF related Special Event Call (eg SQN, RFC etc), please inform
the RAFARS QSL Bureau, Andrew M3NDZ or HQ through the Gen Sec so that any
cards that do arrive can be sent on correctly.
In addition, if you inform Terry G4PSH your operation will be included in
this newsletter, so that other members will be aware of your activation.
You never know, you might even get volunteers to lend a hand!

COUNCIL MEETINGS 2010.
Oct 16(AGM), Nov 18.
Any member may attend Council meetings but travel costs can not be paid.
Members wishing to attend (and applying by snail mail) must contact Mike
G7JPN our Gen. Sec., one month before the due date. Two weeks for
e-mailers.

RAFARS QRV JOURNAL AND QRV EDITORAL CHALLENGE.
QRV Editorial Challenge. We all find different things to do in the
wonderful
hobby of Amateur Radio. I as you know am a CW fanatic, taking it to the
extreme with my 1W quest for global domination.
But let us remember that ever since its inception the hobby has been about

Self Education what have you educated yourself in this year? Rather than
foist an editorial challenge on you, may I make this suggestion? Challenge
Yourself, do something different, try another mode, try QRP, build
something, and tell QRV about it. g0tak@kencomp.net is the email address
to
use or find me in QRZ. Anyone like to join me on Hellschreiber? G0TAK or
more likely 2E1RAF.
Also Roy, G0TAK - 2E1RAF requires articles for the next edition of QRV
with your stories and pictures of RAFARS Events or your own radio shack
etc.

DEBRIEF SSB FIELD DAY 4/5 SEPTEMBER.
Radio conditions were quite good and no storms which meant that G8FC/P had

a good score, results will be given at a later date in the RadCom.
The Crew who made it possible were Operators Roger G3ZDW I/C, Art G3KWY,
Keith M0DZB, Vince G4DQP, Tony G0WFV. Helpers Peter G0NVY, Don M0CES,
Thomas G4OSB also Robert G3VCA who provided transportation for the
equipment.
Roger was also pleased with the support he had this time. Well done all,
with a big thanks from us all for putting G8FC/P on the air once again.

GB2RAF AIR DEFENCE RADAR MUSEUM RAF NEATISHEAD RAFARS PERMANENT S.E.S.
MUSEUM CLOSED DOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Due to a Health and Safety Fire Inspection Failure. The Radar Museum
has been closed down to all the visiting public until further notice.
I am looking into the possibilities of operating GB2RAF second Saturday
of the month but it is not yet clear if the H and S ruling also applies to
the SES Radio Shack/Room, if not I will try and put GB2RAF Operational
again, providing the Staff are able to open the museum gates for me.
In the meantime with support/help I will try and set up GB2RAF outside
the building for any Major RAFARS SES Event.
If all that fails GB2RAF hope to be back on the air sometime in 2011.
See future NLs and RAFARS Website Flash News for the latest on GB2RAF.
