AIRFIELDS ON THE AIR ACTIVATION WEEKEND 2/3 APRIL 2010

The Royal Air Force Amateur Radio Society HQ RAF/DCAE Cosford
will be Organising  and Activating AOTA as an Annual Event on the first weekend
of April.
All Amateur Radio Persons can take part (World wide) .which also includes AR Clubs, 
Societies or Groups.
The rules  are simple  If you have an Old disused or active RAF Airfield in your area
1944 to present time., this also includes RAF Establishments which may not have an airfield 
such as 
an old RAF Observation bunkers, Radar Installations  but the emphasis is an RAF 
Airfield/Runway
All is required is set up a Station on the site whether it is /P /A SES  or you may even 
have an airfield on the land which you now live on,  when you Could even use your own QTH 
call-sign..

Call CQ AOTA
Log information requirements
Date,  TimeZ,  RST,  Callsign ,  Your Name,  Name of RAF Station /Establishment,  County.
(Some Stations may have a RAFARS Number) Post Code, NGR may also be used if in an
isolated location..
The Mode being SSB CW on various bands but concentrated around 2 20 40 and 80m
Repeaters not to be used and no digital modes this year.

This year RAFARS Members and ATC Sqns may apply for a Certificate if you work 5 or more 
AOTA stations over the two days this may be extended next year to all AR Stations,
but this will depend on finances and how successful it is this year and if a system can
be devised such as Stamped Address Envelope Weight/Size Etc. to post certificates to
those who wish to apply..

It is hoped to build up AOTA over the years to run on the same lines as 
Lighthouses., Museums and Mills on the Air and more publicity will be forthcoming
relating to AOTA in Amateur Radio Publications next year if successful this year..
